We process all of our parts using only true hexavalent chromium plating. This is the same type of chrome the auto and motorcycle manufacturers use because it produces a deep “blue” color. Many aftermarket parts manufacturers, and some chrome platers, use trivalent chrome which produces a “yellowish” color. This is difficult to detect on individual parts but is easy to spot when compared to an original hexavalent chrome plated part. Motorcycles often show this condition due to the close proximity of the parts. So when shopping for a chrome plating house or ordering chrome parts, ask about the type of chrome being used. And remember, Harley Davidson does not accept trivalent chrome on their parts, and neither should you.
